Save The Date: Maverick Open To Be Held At Texas Rangers Golf Club October 24

ARLINGTON – For the first time, the annual Maverick Open to support UT Arlington Athletics will be held at the recently-opened Texas Rangers Golf Club on Thursday, Oct. 24, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The world's only Major League Baseball-branded golf course is the result of a $24 million overall investment to completely transform and re-route the former Chester W. Ditto Golf Course at Brown Boulevard and Collins Street, just a few miles from UTA's campus.

Reservation details will be sent out in the coming months, but fans and supporters of the Mavs can get the date on their calendar for what is sure to be a full field of golfers for an afternoon of fun and fellowship to raise resources for UTA student-athlete scholarships and department enhancements. The 2018 edition of the Mav Open generated more than $50,000 for the Maverick Club.

Making Texas Rangers Golf Club an even more fitting location for the Mav Open to be relocated to is that the course was designed by UTA alumni John Colligan and Trey Kemp of Arlington-based Colligan Golf Design.

TRGC is expected to also be the new home of the UTA men's and women's golf programs, giving the Mavs an expansive 23-acre practice area which includes a wide driving range, multiple short-game areas and greens and even a Texas Rangers-logoed on-deck circle.

Additional information regarding the Mav Open will be forthcoming, but any inquiries in the meantime can be addressed to Alex Ware, Assistant AD for Maverick Club, at 817-272-9613 or alex.ware@uta.edu.
