Whitney Walton continues to hear her name called for postseason awards, this time being named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District Softball team, announced by the organization.
Â
The 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Baseball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to be selected for a CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3, or higher, in both undergraduate and graduate studies.
Â
Walton was selected to the District 7 First Team for carrying a perfect 4.00 GPA this year. She has also been named First Team All-Conference and selected to the Sun Belt All-Tournament team this season after betting .389 on the year, while scoring a UTA record 57 runs. She is second in the Sun Belt in hits (68) and fourth in doubles (15).
Â
District 7 is made up of student-athletes in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming. With her first-team honor, Walton will now advance to Google Cloud Academic All-America Ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in June.
Â
UT Arlington will travel to Nacogdoches on Thursday to compete in the SFA Regional of the NISC Postseason Tournament.
