@UTAMavsVB Set To Close Non-Conference Play With Maverick Invite

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UTA volleyball team (6-3) wraps up the non-conference portion of the 2019 schedule with the Maverick Invite this weekend at College Park Center.

The Mavs open the Maverick Invite on Friday (Sept. 20) with a matchup against Chicago State, before wrapping up the event with a matches against Prairie View A&M (1:30 p.m.) and SFA (6:30 p.m.) on Saturday (Sept. 21).

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | CHICAGO STATE
- Chicago State is 4-7 on the season and have dropped three straight matches.
- The Cougars have eight players with double digit kills on the season, led by Beatriz Palmieri's team-leading 125 kills.
- Megan Klavitter leads the team with 193 digs.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | PRAIRIE VIEW A&M
- PVAMU is 0-13 on the season.
- Victoria Pearson (team-leading 124 kills) is one of two Panther players with 100+ kills.
- Skyla Childs leads the squad with 210 digs.
- PVAMU setters Jakarta Hope and Erica Jimenez have registered 190 and 181 assists, respectively.

KNOW YOUR OPPONENT | SFA
- SFA is 9-1 on the season and are riding a 2-match winning streak.
- Junior libero Madelynn Miller was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week after her performance at the Arkansas State Invite. She currently leads the Southland Conference in digs per set and helped lead SFA to a 2-1 record last weekend.
Eight Ladyjacks have recorded double-digit kills, led by Corin Evans' 93.

UTA NOTES
- UTA is outhitting the opposition .212-.172.
- Brooke Townsend and Kylie Jedlicka lead the team with 128 and 98 kills, respectively.
- The Mavs went 2-1 at the Cougar Challenge last weekend at Washington State. UTA picked up victories over Liberty and Idaho State, but were swept by Washington State on day one of the event.
- Brooke Townsend and Kylie Jedlicka were named to the Cougar Challenge All-Tournament team. Jedlicka finished the tournament with 39 kills and 31 digs, while Townsend hit .300 and registered 42 kills & 16 digs.
- UTA sophomore setter Chase Davis suffered a knee injury in warmups a couple weeks ago and will miss the remainder of the season.

NEW FACES
The Mavs will have eight newcomers (7 freshmen, 1 transfer) on the roster for the 2019 campaign.

UTA's 2019 class, which was given High Honorable Mention honors by PrepVolleyball.com, features Division II transfer sophomore Chase Davis (Azusa Pacific / Homeschool / Keller, Texas) and freshmen Danielle Dion (Plano East / Richardson, Texas), Meredith Fisher (Wichita Falls, Texas / Rider HS), Devon Martinka (Stanwood, Wash. / Stanwood HS), Jessica Stancliff (Carrollton, Texas / Hebron HS); Allison Wells (Waxahachie, Texas / Waxahachie HS), Megan Walsh (Grand Rapids, Minn. / Grand Rapids Senior HS); Gabriele White (Lewisville, Texas / Flower Mound HS).

SBC PLAY ON DECK FOR THE MAVS
UTA opens SBC play at home on Sept. 27 vs. ULM, followed by a match against Louisiana at College Park Center on Sept. 28. The Mavericks wrap up conference action at Texas State on Nov. 15.

- UTA has posted a 60-42 record in SBC play since joining the league in 2013.
- The Mavs have won 10+ SBC matches in four of their six season in the league.

SINGLE-MATCH TICKETS ON SALE
UTA Volleyball single-match tickets are now on sale for the 2019 season. Single-match tickets are general admission and are $6 for fans over the age of three, while children two and under get in free.

Military, UTA faculty and staff and UTA students receive free admission to all home, regular season matches.

SEASON TICKETS ON SALE
Season tickets for the upcoming 2019 UTA volleyball season are officially on sale with general admission seating available for $25. The $25 cost (less than $2 per game) is a 50% drop in price from last season.
