ARLINGTON, Texas - Three players registered double digit kills, but the UTA volleyball team dropped a Sun Belt conference match to Louisiana 3-1 (19-25, 25-18, 21-25, 16-25) on Saturday night at College Park Center.

With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in Sun Belt action, while the Ragin' Cajuns improve to 5-10 on the season and 1-1 in league play.

Madison Hill finished with 13 kills and a pair of blocks, while Kylie Jedlicka recorded her sixth double-double of the season (14 kills, 13 digs). Brooke Townsend added 12 kills, four digs and three blocks. Freshman setter Jessica Stancliff tallied 30 assists, while Madelyn St. Germain and Petra Manderson added 24 and 20 digs, respectively.

SET 1 | UTA 19, LOUISIANA 25 | LOUISIANA LEADS 1-0
In a set that saw stellar defense, Louisiana won the point on a few long rallys to grab an 11-8 lead early in the set. The Mavs cut the deficit to two points on a couple of occasions but were unable to get any closer as the Ragin' Cajuns hit .286 and took the opening set 25-19.

Madison Hill led the Mavericks offensively with 5 kills and a .667 hitting percentage.

SET 2 | UTA 25, LOUISIANA 18 | MATCH TIED 1-1
UTA jumped out to a 7-2 lead and forced Louisiana to burn an early timeout. ULL scored 3 of the next 4 points to get within 3 points (8-5), but the Mavs responded with a 5-1 run (13-6) and forced the Ragin' Cajuns to burn their second timeout of the set.

Trailing 20-11, Louisiana went on a 4-0 spurt to cut the UTA lead to five points (20-15) and forcing the Mavs to call a timeout. UTA went on to score 5 of the final 8 points of the set to pick up the 25-18 win and even the match at 1-1.

SET 3 | UTA 21, LOUISIANA 25 | LOUISIANA LEADS 2-1
Louisiana opened with a 10-7 lead, causing the Mavs to call for a timeout. The Ragin' Cajuns pushed their lead to 20-11, but the Mavs responded with a 9-2 (22-20) run to get back in the set.

After a Louisiana timeout, the Ragin' Cajuns scored 3 of the final 4 points of the set to take the 25-21 win and a 2-1 lead in the match.

SET 4 | UTA 16, LOUISIANA 25 | LOUISIANA WINS 3-1
In the match-clinching fourth set, Louisiana raced out to a 10-3 lead and finished the frame with 16 kills and a .240 hitting percentage.

UP NEXT
The Mavericks will return to the court on next weekend when they hit the road for a pair of Sun Belt contests. UTA will face Little Rock on Friday, Oct. 4 (6:00 p.m.) before traveling to Jonesboro, Ark. To take on Arkansas State on Saturday (Oct. 5).
