Box Score WACO, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team opened their season at Baylor on Saturday, falling to the No. 5 ranked Bears 6-1.
The Bears took the doubles set point to take the 1-0 lead in the match. No. 20 Sven Lah and Constantin Frantzen defeated
Alan Sau Franco and
Alejandro Hayen 6-1 on court one. On court tow, No. 25 Ryan Dickerson and Matias Soto defeated the team of
Eduard Simo and
Solano Caffarena 6-2.
Angel Diaz and
Ricardo Alban did not finish their match on court three against Finn Bass and Adrian Boitan.
Angel Diaz took court two in singles play over No. 70 Adrian Boitan. After winning the first set 6-2 and leading 2-0, Boitan bowed out of the match, giving Diaz the win.
Miguel Cabrera fell on court three 6-2, 6-1 to No. 19 Sven Lah. On court one,
Alejandro Hayen fell to No. 59 Matias Soto 6-3, 6-4.
Eduard Simo took on No. 111 Ryan Dickerson, but fell 6-0, 6-3. Sau Franco took set one over Finn Bass 7-5 on court five, but dropped the final two sets 6-1, 6-2 to lose the match. Caffarena matched up against No. 95 Rahul Dhokia, but fell on court six 6-3, 6-4.
The Mavs will return to Arlington next Saturday (Jan. 25) for a double header against Cameron and Prairie View A&M at the UTA Tennis Center.
