ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington volleyball (8-2, 8-2 SBC) team had its three-match winning streak snapped by No. 13 Texas State (15-1, 10-0 SBC) in straight-sets (17-25, 18-25, 20-25) on Friday night at College Park Center.
UTA hit just .158 for the match, while Texas State hit .342 and held the edge over UTA in assists (45-30), aces (3-1), blocks (5-2), and digs (53-46).
The Mavs were led by
Brooke Townsend and
Brianna Ford who each finished the match with nine kills. Ford also had the team's lone ace and had a solo block, while Townsend hit .231 and registered six digs. UTA's setting duo of
Kylee Kapp and
Mollie Blank turned in 14 assists and 12 assists, respectively. Two-time Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week
Alli Wells had a match-high 14 digs, while
Alyssa Duran chipped in with 12 digs.
Kenedi Rutherford led the Bobcats with 11 kills, while Jillian Slaughter added 10 kills. Setter Emily DeWalt recorded a double-double with 37 kills and 11 digs.
The in-state foes will wrap up the weekend with a match on Saturday afternoon. First serve for the contest is set for 1:00 p.m. at College Park Center.
