ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington volleyball team avoided the sweep and defeated Louisiana 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 25-21) on Saturday (Nov. 7) at College Park Center. For the third straight match, UTA took the first set of the match, but this time they were able to finish the job and win the match.
With the win, the Mavs improve to 9-5 overall (9-5 SBC) and lock up the No. 3 seed in the west division, while the Ragin' Cajuns fall to 17-5 on the season and 11-5 in conference play.
The Mavericks will return to the court next weekend to take on Texas State (18-1, 13-0 SBC) in San Marcos for the final two matches of the regular season (Nov. 13-14).

Briana Brown led the Mavs with 15 kills (.394 hitting percentage) to go with five digs and three blocks.
Brianna Ford finished with a double-double (13 kills, 15 digs), while
Brooke Townsend added 12 kills.
Devon Martinka registered nine kills and
Kylee Kapp picked up her sixth double-double of the season with 22 assists and 11 digs.
Alli Wells picked up a match-high 34 kills, while
Mollie Blank added 24 assists and eight digs.
Hali Wisnoskie and Kelsey Bennett led Louisiana with 15 kills each.
The Mavs outhit the Ragin' Cajuns .204-.176 in the win and held the Ragin' Cajuns below a .190 hitting percentage in three of the four sets played.
