WICHITA, Kan. - In their first road test of the season, the UT Arlington women's tennis team (4-2) fell to the Wichita State Shockers 4-0 at the Coleman Tennis Complex on Saturday evening.
The Shockers took Court One and Two in doubles.Â
Polina Akimova and
Nanaka Takeuchi fell to Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and Marta Bellucco 6-3 on Court One while
Momoka Horiguchi and
Liz Chileno fell to Lingwei Kong and Ting-Ya Hsu 6-0 on Court Two.Â
Carla Pons and
Almudena Boza were locked in a 4-4 tied on Court Three when the doubles point was secured by WSU.
Wichita State took No.1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles in straight sets to win the match.
Aida Garcia Mendez was set to begin the third set on Court Four when the match was called.Â
Polina Akimova dropped the No. 1 spot 6-1, 6-4 before
Momoka Horiguchi fell on Court Two 6-0, 6-3.Â
Liz Chileno was the final to fall, losing on Court Three 6-3, 6-1.
The Mavericks will be back on the courts tomorrow at 9 am when they take on Tulane in Wichita at the Coleman Tennis Complex.
