PALENCIA, SPAIN – Former UT Arlington men's basketball member Jabari Narcis '20 has signed a contract to begin his professional playing career in Spain for Palencia Baloncesto.
 
Located in north-central Spain, Palencia plays in Spanish Second Division Liga Española de Baloncesto, more commonly known as LEB Oro. Click here to visit the team's official website.
 
A 6-9 versatile forward, Narcis spent the past two seasons with the Mavericks. His 79 career blocks rank as the 7th-most in program history in only 64 games, and he tallied 349 points and 309 rebounds as a member of the Mavs.
 
In 2019-20, Narcis averaged 7.8 points, a team-best 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. The tallest player on the team, Narcis led UTA in 3-point percentage (37.6), and his 47 3-point makes were the 2nd-most on the team. Narcis finished the year 7th in the Sun Belt Conference in rebounding and tied for 4th in the league in blocks.
 
A native of Trinidad and Tobago, Narcis recorded six double-doubles last year – more, or equal, to three Sun Belt teams. He poured in a career-high 23 points versus Arkansas Tech, and also tied a single-game program record for 3-point percentage by going a perfect 5-5 at #8 Gonzaga.
 
As a junior in 2018-19, Narcis averaged 3.1 points and 3.1 rebounds while registering a team-leading 34 blocks. The stretch forward came to UTA following two years at Jacksonville (Texas) College where he averaged 7.2 points and 7.9 rebounds over 54 games with the Jaguars from 2016-18.
 
Narcis is the first member of the UTA 2020 Class to sign a professional playing contract; earlier this spring Brian Warren signed with sports agency Interperformances as he looks to begin his professional playing career oversees in 2020-21 as well.
 
In total, UTA now has 15 former players who are playing professionally. Including Narcis, eight of those 15 have graduated in the past four years as the Mavs continue to churn out professional players at a high level.
