Yeji Shin Named UTA Women’s Golf Assistant Coach

ARLINGTON – Former TCU and Georgia Southern golfer Yeji Shin has joined the UT Arlington women's golf program as an assistant coach.

Shin spent her freshman and sophomore years at fellow Sun Belt Conference member Georgia Southern from 2015-17 before transferring to TCU for her junior and senior seasons, graduating as a Horned Frog in 2019.

Following her time on the links, Shin utilized her communications degree by serving as an intern with the TCU Athletics Communications office. In addition to fulfilling several gameday and promotional roles for the department, she aided in the publicity and social-media efforts for the women's golf program.

Over her four-year career between the Eagles and Horned Frogs, Shin competed in 70 rounds over 24 tournaments, posting a pair of career-low 70s as a sophomore and senior. A member of the 2015-16 Sun Belt Academic Honor Roll, Shin also secured a pair of career top-5 finishes and five top-10 showings.

"I'm really excited to have Yeji join our program," said UTA head women's golf coach Catherine Matranga. "She has a great passion and enthusiasm for growing the game, and I can't wait for her to get started."

Shin has previously served as an assistant coach at the Junior Sports Golf Academy in her native New Jersey. In that role, she provided individual and group lessons for children and organized activities to help improve their putting, short game and driving.

A 2015 graduate of Old Tappan High School, Shin was actually a member of the boys' varsity golf team as a freshman, sophomore and junior before serving as captain of the new girls' varsity team as a senior. Her amateur and prep highlights include two top-5 finishes in AJCA tournaments, including an NJPGA Championship. She also qualified for the 2014 USGA Women's Amateur and 2014 USGA Women's Public Links.
