LITTLE ROCK – Jordynn Hernandez was the lone Lady Maverick to score in double figures as the UTA women's basketball team had its four-game win streak snapped with a 47-40 loss to the Little Rock Trojans on Saturday afternoon at the Jack Stephens Center.
With the loss, UTA falls to 6-4 overall and 4-2 in Sun Belt play, while the Trojans improve to 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in league action.
Hernandez pulled down a pair of rebounds and recorded a steal to go with her team-high 14 points.
Shyia Smith finished with seven points and seven rebounds, while
Misty Dossey added seven points, three rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Emma Halverson chipped in with five points and six boards.
Alayzha Knapp led the Trojans with 18 points, while Krystan Vornes registered 16 rebounds.
The Lady Mavs, who held their 5th consecutive opponent below 55 points, struggled shooting the rock for much of the afternoon. UTA shot 16-of-49 (32.7 percent) from the floor and 3-of-16 (18. 8 percent) from behind the arc.
UTA returns to the court next weekend when they host Arkansas State (9-3, 4-2 SBC) at College Park Center for a 2-game conference series Jan. 29-30.
