ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's tennis team began their season on Saturday, sweeping UTPB 7-0 at the UTA Tennis Center.

The Mavericks cruised to a doubles point, winning all three of their matches.Â
Momoka Horiguchi and
Carla Pons won the No. 2 position 6-0 over Lea Mjertan and Sophie Rishmagui. The teams of
Polina Akimova/
Lucia Natal and Nanaka Takecuhi/
Almudena Boza both won by a score of 6-1 on courts one and three, respectively.

UTA kept their momentum going into singles play winning on every court.Â
Almudena Boza took the No.6 position without giving up a set, 6-0, 6-0. Meanwhile at the No. 1 singles position, Horiguchi took care of business over Lore Mewis 6-1, 6-0.
Lucia Natal handled court three 6-2, 6-0 before newcomer
Bruna Casasampere won court five 6-1, 6-2. Takeuchi (No.4) and Pons (No.2) both battled in the first set, winning 7-5. Their second sets were much easier however, as Takeuchi won 6-2, while Pons won 6-1.

The Mavericks will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center to take on Central Oklahoma at 1:30 p.m.
