ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team (3-10, 1-2 SBC) picked up their first Sun Belt Conference win of the year on Saturday night, sweeping ULM in the College Park Center 25-16, 25-14, 25-16.
UTA held the Warhawks to hit just .053 on the match, forcing 19 errors. Meanwhile, the Mavs hit .342 with 48 kills in the three set match. UTA was led on offense by
Briana Brown (12 kills).
Nya Blair finished with nine kills - one shy of her season-high. The Mavericks were paced by
Kylee Kapp (21 assists) and
Mollie Blank (18 assists).
Defenisviely, UTA finished with six blocks - led by
Kainah Williams' four block performance.
Brianna Ford (3 blocks) and
Nya Blair (2 blocks) each ended with multi-block performances.
Alli Wells continued her impressive season, endeding the night with 23 digs.
Brooke Townsend added a season-high 16 digs.
SET 1 | UTA 25, ULM 16 | UTA LEADS 1-0
UTA scored the first eight points in set one, with seven of those points coming while
Brooke Townsend was serving. UTA continued to steamroll the Warhawks, taking a 20-7 lead before ULM was able to score nine of the next 11 points. It was far too late, however, as the Mavericks took set one 25-16 with
Monica LaFleur and Townsend finishing off the set with a block.
SET 2 | UTA 25, UIW 14 | UTA LEADS 2-0
The two teams battled early on, but with the Mavericks leading 7-6, a 4-0 run by UTA created a gap between the two team. A series of 3-0 runs over the remainder of the set gave the Mavericks another handed win. In the second set, UTA hit a set high .429, coming away with 17 kills and just two errors.
SET 3 | UTA 25, UIW 16 | UTA WINS 3-0
Another strong start gave the Mavericks an early lead in set three. Leading 8-3, the Warhawks were forced to burn a timeout. ULM would close the gap to two points (8-6), but a kill from LaFleur ended any momentum for the Warhawks. The Mavericks utilized a 10-3 run to take a commanding 20-11 lead. The two teams traded points for the remainder of the set, but the lead was insurmountable as the Mavericks cruised 25-16.

The Mavericks will play a home and home series with Texas State next week, playing at Texas State on Thursday (Oct. 7) and in Arlington on Saturday (Oct. 9).
