SAN MARCOS, Texas – The UT Arlington volleyball team (3-11, 1-4 Sun Belt) was swept by in-state rival Texas State on Thursday night, falling 25-23, 25-17, 25-15 inside Strahan Arena in San Marcos.
UTA was efficient in their attacks, finishing with just eight errors on the night against Texas State's 13. The Mavericks were led by
Brianna Ford's 11 kill night.
Mollie Blank (14 assists) and
Kylee Kapp (13 assists) paced the match for UTA.
Alli Wells finished with a team-high 10 digs, while
Monica LaFleur finished with five blocks.
Briana Brown (4 blocks),
Nya Blair (2 blocks) and
Kainah Williams (2 blocks) each had multi-block performances as well.
SET 1 | UTA 23, TXST 25 | TXST LEADS 1-0
The Mavericks jumped out to an early 7-3 lead after
Monica LaFleur capped an early 6-0 run for UTA. With the Mavericks leading 23-21, Texas State called a timeout and embarked on a 4-0 run to end the set with three kills coming from Jada Gardner.
SET 2 | UTA 17, TXST 25 | TXST LEADS 2-0
Both teams battled through the first half of the set, tied at 14. The tide quick turned as the Bobcats went on an 11-3 run to end the set, giving Texas State the 25-17 win.
SET 3 | UTA 15, TXST 25 | TXST WINS 3-0
Monica LaFleur kept the match tied at four to begin the set, but the Bobcats rattled off eight straight to take a 12-4 lead. The two teams continued trading points, but the deficit was too much for the Mavericks to overcome, falling 25-15.

The Mavericks will return to Arlington for a rematch with the Bobcats on Saturday with first serve coming at 6 p.m. inside the College Park Center.
