SET 1 | UTA 25, GS 18 | UTA LEADS 1-0
The Mavericks opened an 8-4 lead over the Eagles to start the match, never trailing. The Eagles cut the lead to one at 10-9, but a 7-2 run put the Mavericks up 17-11 late in the set and forced a Ga. Southern timeout. GS held a 4-0 run to cut into the deficit, but a timely timeout by UTA ended the momentum and allowed UTA to finish the set.
SET 2 | UTA 25, GS 20 | UTA LEADS 2-0
The second set was toe-to-toe for much of the set, with neither team able to gain any ground until late. With the match tied at 17, the Mavericks used a 4-1 run to take the largest lead of the set. A timeout from the Eagles was unable to slow down the Mavericks as UTA finished strong, ending the set with a block from
Kainah Williams and
Mollie Blank.
SET 3 | UTA 25, GS 17 | UTA WINS 3-0
Midway through the set, the Mavericks led 9-8, but a kill from
Nya Blair started a 4-0 run to give the Mavericks a four-point lead and forced a Georgia Southern timeout. The Mavericks increased their lead to as many as seven at 20-13 forcing another Eagle timeout. The timeout was all-for-not as the Mavs powered to the end of the set, winning by eight.
