LAFAYETTE, La. – The UT Arlington volleyball (10-14, 8-7 Sun Belt) team overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in five sets (24-26, 22-25, 25-17, 25-16, 15-10).
Briana Brown had another dominating performance, finishing with her second straight match with over 20 kills, ending with 24 kills on 47 attacks with just five errors (.404 hit%).
Brianna Ford was also impressive, ending with 17 kills.
Mollie Blank (30 assists) and
Kylee Kapp (26 assist) paced the match for the Mavericks.
Alli Wells led the Mavericks defensively, finishing with 27 digs.
Mollie Blank added 12 digs to complete the double-double. Ford led all Mavericks with four blocks, while Brown and
Monica LaFleur each ended with two blocks.
SET 1 | UTA 24, LA 26 | LA LEADS 1-0
The Ragin' Cajuns took a 9-5 lead, but a Louisiana attacking error started a 10-2 run by the Mavericks to give UTA a 15-11 lead. With the Mavs still leading by four (19-15), the Cajuns battled back to tie the set at 21. Briana Ford tied the set at 24, but back-to-back points gave Louisiana the first set.
SET 2 | UTA 22, LA 25 | LA LEADS 2-0
Kainah Williams put the Mavs up 4-1 with an ace, but the Cajuns battled back to take a 10-9 lead over UTA. The Mavericks rebounded, taking a four-point lead (19-15) coming off a block from
Nya Blair and
Monica LaFleur. A 6-0 run from the Cajuns put Louisiana back on top for good.
SET 3 | UTA 25, LA 17 | LA LEADS 2-1
The Mavericks jumped out to a 13-6 lead with a
Brianna Ford kill. The Mavericks increased their lead to eight points with a kill from
Kainah Williams. UTA held the Ragin' Cajuns in check, winning the third set by eight points.
SET 4 | UTA 25, LA 16 | MATCH TIED 2-2
Louisiana jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Mavericks stormed back with five straight points to take a lead they wouldn't relinquish. UTA held the Cajuns to a -.040 hitting percentage and just eight kills. The Mavericks hit .207 on the set with 11 kills.
SET 5 | UTA 15, LA 10 | UTA WINS 3-2
Tied at 4-4, the Mavericks rattled off five straight points to take a commanding 9-4 lead. With the momentum on their side, UTA finished the set, trading points the remainder of the way and winning by five points to complete the rally.

The Mavericks will end the regular season at ULM on Sunday at 11 a.m. A win and loss from Louisiana will secure the number two seed in the West in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament for the Mavericks.
