ARLINGTON, Texas – Freshman
Briana Brown stole the show on Senior Night, finishing with a career-high 28 kills as the Mavericks beat Little Rock in five sets (24-26, 25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 15-12) at the College Park Center on Saturday night. The win moved the Mavericks to .500 on the season in Sun Belt Play (7-7).

Brown's 28 kills surpassed her previous high of 26, which also came against Little Rock (Oct. 10, 2020).
Brianna Ford (13 kills) and
Brooke Townsend (10 kills) both ended the night with double-digit kills. Townsend also picked up her second straight double-double with 11 digs. The Mavericks were paced by
Mollie Blank (37 assists) and
Kylee Kapp (22 assists).
Alli Wells ended the night with 29 digs and added five assists.
Mollie Blank (13 digs) and
Kylee Kapp (12 digs) each ended with double-digit digs and picked up a double-double. Williams (6 blocks) and Ford (5 blocks) were forces at the net all night.
SET 1 | UTA 24, LR 26 | LR LEADS 1-0
There were 14 ties and four lead changes in the first set, as both teams vied for position over the other. Ford finished with seven kills in the first set. With Little Rock leading 24-22, the Mavericks won back-to-back points to tie it, but a kill from Laure Jansen, followed by an ace ended the set in Little Rock's favor.
SET 2 | UTA 25, LR 22 | MATCH TIED 1-1
The Trojans came out with a 10-6 lead, but a kill from
Brooke Townsend sparked a 4-0 run to tie the set at 10. With the send still tied at 22, Townsend put the Mavericks on top before Brown put down back-to-back kills to end the set.
SET 3 | UTA 25, LR 21 | UTA LEADS 2-1
The two teams traded runs until the Mavericks used a Trojan's service error, down two points, to start a 6-0 run and take a 20-16 lead late in the set. Little Rock cut the lead to one (22-21) with a 3-0 run, but the Mavericks ended with their own 3-0 run, capped with a kill from
Monica LaFleur.
SET 4 | UTA 17, LR 25 | MATCH TIED 2-2
The Trojans were in control from the early going in set four, taking a 12-6 lead before forcing a timeout by UT Arlington. The Mavericks fought their way back, tying the set at 14 with an 8-2 run, but Little Rock ended on an 11-3 run to force a decisive fifth set.
SET 5 | UTA 15, 12 | UTA WINS 3-2
UTA looked well in control of the fifth set, taking a 7-0 lead and forcing the Trojans to use both timeouts along the way. The Trojans responded by winning the next seven points to tie the set. A kill from Williams started a 3-0 run and gave the Mavericks enough breathing room to end the set, taking the win 15-12.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will finish the regular season next weekend when they take on Louisiana (Nov. 12) and ULM (Nov. 14).
