SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Lady Mavs shot just 31 percent (18-of-58) from the field, committed 20 turnovers and were outrebounded (50-28) in a 66-45 loss at in-state rival Texas State on Saturday at Strahan Arena.
With the loss, UTA falls to 10-6 overall and 8-4 in Sun Belt play, while the Bobcats move to 8-9 on the season and 5-7 in league action.
Bre Wickware led the Lady Mavs with 11 points.
Terryn Milton added 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from three-point range. The junior also added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Katie Ferrell chipped in with eight points, four boards and four assists, while
Barbara Benson finished with eight points and two assists.
Da'Nasia Hood scored a game-high 25 points for the home team.
UTA shot out to a quick 7-0 run to start the game and led by eight points (19-11) after the first quarter. Texas State responded with a big second quarter, outscoring UTA 18-8 to take a 29-27 lead at the break and never looked back. The Bobcats pushed their lead to as many as 22 points, before picking up the 66-45 win.
The Lady Mavs welcome Texas State to the College Park Center Saturday (Feb. 13) afternoon. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
