WACO, Texas - The UTA Men's Tennis team will hit the road Wednesday to take on No. 4 Baylor Bears at the Hurd Tennis Center.
With mother nature causing disruptions, the Mavericks have only been able to play two matches this season and currently hold a 1-1 record - falling to Utah 1-6 and beating Cameron 6-1.Â
Daichi Akiyoshi and
Solano Caffarena lead the Mavericks in wins dating back to tournament play, both holding seven on the year. In dual action,
Alan Sau Franco is 2-0 with both wins coming from the No. 2 position.
In doubles play, the Mavericks are 3-2 in double play. Sau Franco and
Alejandro Hayen are 1-0 together in the No. 1 position, while
Angel Diaz and
Nick Beamish are 1-0 in the No. 2 position.

- While the Mavericks have been hard-pressed to get a match in, the Bears have been able to complete 15 and currently sit with a 13-2 record. Their lone losses have come to No. 3 TCU (1-4) and No. 2 North Carolina (1-4).
- Baylor has defeated four top ten opponents through the first two months of the season.
- Baylor has moved their lineup around, but Soto Matias has been one constant, earning a combined 7-1 record in either the No. 1 position or No. 2 position.
- In doubles play, the Bears hold a 31-11 record in dual play, with only one teammate combination holding a losing record.
