Mavericks Swept at No. 2 Baylor

WACO, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team fell to the No. 2 Baylor Bears on Wednesday afternoon 7-0. With the loss the Mavericks fall to 1-2, while the Bears improve to 14-2.

The Bears started off the match by taking the doubles point.  Baylor took the No. 2 doubles over Angel Diaz and Nick Beamish, 6-1.  Alejandro Hayen and Alan Sau Franco fought back and took the No. 1 doubles, 6-4, to even it up.  The Bears were able to come away with a 6-3 win on Court Three, however, to take a 1-0 advantage in the match.

Baylor quickly won the required four points for the match, taking the No. 6 singles 6-3, 6-0 over Eduard Simo, the No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4 over Alejandro Hayen and the No. 5 singles over Solano Caffarena, 6-3, 6-0.

Angel Diaz was the lone Maverick to win a set over his opponent. Diaz proved his 84th ranking to be true, batting Adrian Boitan (No. 46) to a tiebreaker set.  Boitan took the tiebreaker set, however, 13-11 to win the No. 1 singles position.

The Mavericks will have one day off before taking on DFW foe Southern Methodist in Dallas on Friday, February 27.
