ARLINGTON, Texas - The UTA Men's Tennis will return to the friendly confines of the UTA Tennis Center on Saturday to take on UTSA at 1 p.m.
The Mavericks (1-2) are coming off a loss at No. 2 Baylor. Despite the loss,
Alan Sau Franco and Alejandro Hayne showed that they can compete with anyone in doubles, taking down the Bears No. 1 doubles team 6-4 – the only match that the Mavs won on the day.
Angel Diaz came two points shy of winning his singles match, falling in the tie-breaker set 6-4, 6-7, 0-1 (11-13).
Daichi Akiyoshi and
Solano Caffarena lead the Mavericks in wins dating back to tournament play, both holding seven on the year.
In doubles play, the Mavericks are 4-4 in double play. Sau Franco and
Alejandro Hayen are 2-0 together in the No. 1 position, while
Angel Diaz and
Nick Beamish are 1-1 in the No. 2 position.

- The Roadrunners are 3-2 on the season and are coming off back-to-back wins over UTRGV (7-0) and New Mexico State (6-1).
- Four Roadrunners own three wins this season (Joao Ceolin, Javier Gonzalez, Slava Gulin, and Juri Reckow)
- The Mavs are 26-14 against UTSA dating back to 1989. Their last two matches have come down to the final match. The Mavs won their 2019 match 4-3, while UTSA took the 2018 match 4-3.
