DALLAS, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team fell to the SMU Mustangs on Monday afternoon 6-0 at the SMU Tennis Complex.
The Mavericks battled in doubles play.
Angel Diaz and
Miguel Cabrera took No. 3 doubles 6-3 to start the match. The Mustangs evened it up on court two when
Solano Caffarena and
Eduard Simo fell 3-6. With the doubles match coming down to the final match,
Alan Sau Franco and
Alejandro Hayen fought tooth and nail, but came up just short losing 7-6 (5).
The Mustangs held their momentum from doubles, quickly capturing their second point with a 6-0, 6-1 win over
Alejandro Hayen on court five.
Angel Diaz was the next to fall, dropping the No. 1 singles position 6-4, 6-3. SMU wrapped up their victory with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over
Alan Sau Franco on court two.
UTA will be back in action on Thursday at the UTA Tennis Center at 2 p.m. when they host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
