ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team fell to No. 35 Texas Tech on Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center, 4-0. With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 1-5 on the season, while the Red Raiders improve to 5-2.
The Red Raiders began the day by taking the doubles point over the Mavericks.
Alejandro Hayen and
Alan Sau Franco fell on court one to begin doubles play, 6-3. Shortly after,
Angel Diaz and
Miguel Cabrera dropped a hard-fought match on court three, 7-5.
In singles competition,
Solano Caffarena was the first Maverick to fall, losing to Reed Collier (#115) 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 4 competition.
Alejandro Hayen then fell on court five, 6-3, 6-2. Texas Tech ended the day with Ilgiz Valiev (#93) taking down
Alan Sau Franco 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles position.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Monday when they host UT Tyler at the UTA Tennis Center. Action is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Monday.
