ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team swept their second straight Sun Belt Conference opponent to begin conference play, defeating Louisiana 4-0 on Saturday morning at the UTA Tennis Center.  The Mavericks improve to 8-1 overall land 2-0 in Sun Belt play.

The Mavericks fell behind in doubles as Polina Akimova and Nanaka Takeuchi fell to the Ragin' Cajuns on court one, 6-2. Carla Pons and Almudena Boza quickly evened the doubles score with a 6-2 win at No. 2.  Lucia Natal and Bruna Casasampere brought home the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court three.

The Mavericks took a 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 4 position by Lucia Natal over Lucie Raquin.

The lead increased to 3-0 as Polina Akimova took down Clara Mantaux 6-2, 6-4 on court two.  Carla Pons ended the match, taking court three in a sweep, 6-2, 6-4 over Christina  Jordan.

The Mavericks will continue Sun Belt play on Tuesday, March 16 when they host ULM at the UTA Tennis Center.
