ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington men's tennis team complete two sweeps on Wednesday, defeating UTPB 4-0 in the morning before taking down Prairie View A&M 7-0 in the afternoon. The two wins push the Mavs win streak to four games and they now it at 5-5 on the season.
MATCH ONE | UTA 4, UTPB 0
The Mavericks began the first match on the right foot, continue their momentum from their two-match winning streak.
Ricardo Alban and
Alan Sau Franco took No. 3 doubles 6-2 to put the Mavericks one more match away from capturing the doubles point.
Angel Diaz and
Miguel Cabrera quickly followed with a 6-2 win of their own on court two to put the Mavs up 1-0 early on UTPB.
Angel Diaz went straight back to business in singles competition, taking court one 6-1, 6-1 to put the Mavericks up 2-0.
Solano Caffarena gained the third point of the match for UTA with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 4 position.
Freshman
Nick Beamish brought the match home with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court six to complete the sweep for the Mavericks.
MATCH TWO | UTA 7, PVAM 0
The Mavericks didn't slow down in match two of the day. They began the match taking out the Panthers on court two and three in doubles to win the doubles point.
Alan Sau Franco and
Ricardo Alban won court three 6-0, while
Angel Diaz and
Miguel Cabrera won by the same score on court two.
It was a clean sweep in singles play, as five of the six matches were won in straight sets.
Nick Beamish made it a 2-0 lead for UTA with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5
Ricardo Alban followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6, before
Solano Caffarena made it a 4-0 lead for UTA with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4.
Alan Sau Franco quickly took care of business at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1, while
Miguel Cabrera took No. 3 6-3, 6-2.
Angel Diaz rounded out the match with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 win on court one to complete the perfect day for the Mavericks.
