ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team improved to 10-1 on the season with a 4-2 win over UTSA on Friday afternoon at the UTA Tennis Center. The Mavericks have now won three matches in a row.
The day started off on the right foot for the Mavs, taking doubles to go up 1-0 early in the match. Momoka Horiguch and
Bruna Casasampere took down Jasmin Starr and Keegan McCain 6-1 on court two.Â
Nanaka Takeuchi and
Liz Chileno wrapped up the doubles competition with a 6-3 win on court one.
Almudena Boza captured the second point of the day for the Mavericks with a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles position.Â
Carla Pons followed with a 6-3, 6-1 win on court four to make it 3-0.
The Roadrunners battled back, winning back-to-back points to make it 3-2. Aleksandra Zlatarova defeated
Liz Chileno 6-4, 6-1, while Alexandra Weir defeated
Polina Akimova 6-4, 6-2 on court three.
The match ended with a 6-1, 7-6 win on court one by
Momoka Horiguchi over Jasmin Starr to clinch the win for the Mavericks.
