ARLINGTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team completed its second sweep over the Arkansas State Red Wolves on Saturday, winning 7-0 at the UTA Tennis Center. It marks the fourth win in the row for UTA and the Mavs improve to 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.
The day looked good from the Mavericks from the get-go.Â
Momoka Horiguchi and
Bruna Casasampere took the No. 2 doubles over Shelby King and Jill Morse 6-2.Â
Carla Pons and
Almudena Boza followed up with a 6-4 win on court three to clinch the doubles point for the Mavericks.Â
Nanaka Takeuchi and
Liz Chileno were winning 5-4 when their match was called.
In singles play, the Mavericks won each court in straight sets.Â
Polina Akimova didn't lose a game at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Momoka Horiguchi made it 3-0 for the Mavericks with a 6-0, 6-2 sweep at the No. 1 position before Liza Chileno clinched the match for the Mavs with a 6-0, 6-3 win at court two.
The Mavericks continued to roll after the match was already clinched.Â
Bruna Casasampere made the lead 5-0 for UTA with a 6-3, 6-0 sweep on court five.
Almudena Boza and
Carla Pons wrapped up the day with sweeps of their own. Pons won the No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-4, while Boza took No. 5 6-2, 6-1.

The Mavericks will stay in Arlington to take on SMU at 2 pm on Tuesday. They will look to make up for their lone loss on the day.
