ARLINGTON, Texas – It was a pitching duel at Allan Saxe Field Sunday afternoon as UTA came up short 4-2 in the final game against No. 15 Louisiana.
Kenedy Hines and
Allie Gardiner each had solid performances in the circle and kept Louisiana's offense to just three hits.

Seniors,
KJ Murphy and
Aileen Garcia, were responsible for the Mavericks' three hits in the contest. Murphy recorded two hits on the day while Garcia smacked a two-out RBI double that plated Murphy along with sophomore
Reagan Hukill.
Sophomore Hines got her ninth start on the mound for the Mavericks and limited the Cajuns to just one hit across 15 batters faced. The Spring, Texas native kept Louisiana off the board through three innings before the lone hit produced two runs.
Right hander Gardiner replaced Hines in the circle and went on to throw the remainder of the contest. The junior allowed two runs off two hits across 14 batters.
With UTA unable to get any more runs across, Gardiner got the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Louisiana remained scoreless through three innings before a 2-run home run put the first runs on the board.
- Center fielder Hukill led the sixth inning off with a walk before
KJ Murphy reached on an infield single to place runners on first and second with Garcia in the box.
- Senior Garcia knocked Hukill and Murphy in with a 2-out RBI double to tie the game 2-2.
- Cajuns plated two runs to take a 4-2 lead in the top of the seventh inning off their second 2-run home run of the game.
- UTA couldn't get anything going in their last ups and fell in game 3, 4-2.

The Mavericks will travel to Nacogdoches, Texas Wednesday (Mar. 24) at Stephen F. Austin for a midweek game that is set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
