Softball Loses Midweek Matchup 2-0 at SFA

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team dropped its midweek contest at SFA Wednesday with a final score of 2-0.

The Mavericks recorded a total of seven hits in the game but were unable to plate any runs across stranding six runners on the bases.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

The Mavericks tallied seven hits in the game as shortstop Emily Evans paced UTA at the plate going 2-3 with two singles up the middle.

The remaining five hits were courtesy of Jadyn Erickson, KJ Murphy, Madison Miller, Aileen Garcia and Jessica Carreon.

Head Coach Peejay Brun utilized two pitchers in the contest as Kenedy Hines got the start. The right hander went on to throw 3.1 innings and allowed two runs over 15 batters.

California native Laura Henriksen replaced Hines in the circle and threw the remainder of the game allowing two hits across seven batters faced.

The Mavericks were unable to plate any runs across leaving six runners on base as Hines got the loss.

PLAY BY PLAY
  • After three scoreless innings, SFA grabbed a two-run lead in the fourth courtesy of a double and two singles.
  • After back-to-back singles up the middle from Evans and Carreon, UTA was unable to plate any across in the top of the fifth inning.
  • UTA had multiple opportunities to score throughout the game but couldn't quite find the hits and fell to the Ladyjacks 2-0.

The Mavericks will travel to Austin to face UTSA, South Dakota and host, No. 10 Texas in the three-day Bevo Classic beginning Friday (Mar. 26) through Sunday (Mar. 28).
