ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team's comeback bid fell short, 4-5, against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi Thursday night at Allan Saxe Field. After a sixth inning rally, the Mavericks came up short dropping their overall record to 1-8.

Amber Langston led UTA's offense going 2-3. All three Mavericks notched a double in their at-bats.
UTA remained scoreless through five innings until five runs were scored courtesy back-to-back singles from
Jessica Carreon and
Jadyn Erickson plated
Amber Langston across which made it a 5-1 game.
Aileen Garcia drew a bases-loaded walk to plate one more across the board before sophomore
Cielo Morin recorded a pinch-hit RBI to make it a 5-3 game. Sophomore center fielder
Reagan Hukill kept the sixth inning rally going with a sacrifice fly to center field and scored senior
KJ Murphy, 5-4.
Freshman
Gracie Bumpurs got the start in the circle for the Mavs and threw two innings while allowing five hits before being replaced by senior Jojo Valencia. The lefty went on to throw the rest of the game allowing just one hit while facing 19 batters.
