ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington softball team clinched the series with a 3-1 victory against Georgia State Sunday at Allan Saxe Field.

Senior
KJ Murphy finished 3-3 with an RBI on the day notching her fourth long ball of the season. The third baseman was responsible for three of the five of UTA's hits as senior
Aileen Garcia and sophomore
Kenedy Hines (1 RBI) collected the other two.
Laura Henriksen earned her eleventh start in the circle for UTA and threw three innings allowing one earned run off three hits.
Henriksen was replaced by senior Jojo Valencia who went on to pitch three innings not allowing a single run across 12 batters faced.
Junior
Allie Gardiner came in for relief in the seventh inning and retired the three batters she faced while striking out two giving Valencia her third win of the season.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Georgia State grabbed an early 1-0 lead in their first at-bats after a Panther stole home.
- UTA scored their first two runs of the game in the fourth inning from a Panther error and an RBI-single from the bat of Hines.
- Murphy notched a solo home run in the fifth to extend the Mavericks' lead 3-1.
- UTA continued to keep the Panthers off the board for the remainder of the game as the Mavericks took the series with a 3-1 victory.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will face off with North Texas for the third time this season with this being the second matchup at Allan Saxe Field. UTA will welcome the Mean Green Wednesday (Apr. 14) with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
