Softball Falls to No. 9 OSU Despite Strong Start

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Despite a strong start, the UT Arlington softball team dropped their midweek contest in Stillwater against No. 9 Oklahoma State 9-3.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Seniors Madison Miller and KJ Murphy finished 2-3 on the night while Miller notched two RBI. Sophomore Jadyn Erickson followed Miller and Murphy going 1-4.

Right hander Kenedy Hines got the start on the mound for the Mavericks and threw 3.1 innings while allowing five runs off five hits.

California native Laura Henriksen replaced Hines in the circle and faced just seven batters allowing four runs.

Allie Gardiner came in for relief and threw the remainder of the game as UTA was unable to get anything going giving Hines the loss.

PLAY BY PLAY
  • Back-to-back singles from Erickson and Murphy got things started for the Mavs followed by a sacrifice bunt from Courtney Ogle. Miller went on to knock in two runs off a single to center field in the first inning.
  • The Cowgirls answered back to tie it up 2-2 in their first at-bats from a pair of sacrifice flies.
  • Oklahoma State put one more on the board to take the lead 3-2 in the second inning.
  • The Mavericks went on to plate one more across off a throwdown to second base that would tie it up once again 3-3 in the third inning.
  • The Cowgirls plated six more runs across the third and fourth inning off a solo home run and a couple of doubles to extend their led 9-3.
  • UTA could not get anything going falling to the Cowgirls 9-3.
 
ON DECK
The Mavericks look for their third Sun Belt series win as they travel to Coastal Carolina to play a doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. followed by one game Sunday at with the first pitch at 12:00 p.m.
