PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. - The 7th-seeded UT Arlington men's tennis team will head to Peachtree City, Georgia on Friday at 1 p.m. to take on the No. 2 seed Troy Trojans at the Peachtree City Tennis Center for the start of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
The Mavericks are coming off a 7-0 sweep over Southern Arkansas in their season finale on Monday at the UTA Tennis Center.
UTA has played a grueling schedule this season to help prepare them for the Sun Belt Tournament. The Mavericks have played a total of six ranked opponents this spring in competitive play.
Alan Sau Franco,
Angel Diaz and
Solano Caffarena lead the Mavericks in singles action with all three reaching double-digit wins on the season.
Alejandro Hayen will look to join the trio this weekend as he currently sits with nine wins. Diaz has held down the No. 1 singles position for the Mavericks all year and holds a 6-4 record on court one.
In doubles action,
Angel Diaz and
Miguel Cabrera have been a force for the Mavericks. In dual action, they are 8-5 this spring. Dating back to tournament play, the tandem holds a 10-6 record for the Mavs, the best mark on the team.
UTA is looking to advance to championship the for the first time since 2016, when they advanced all the way to the championship, winning the conference title over South Alabama. In 2019, the Mavericks advanced to the semifinals before falling to top-seeded Georgia State.
Fans will have a few options on how to follow along with the match. All matches will be aired on ESPN+ this year and the Sun Belt will provide live stats for the matches, as well.
