CONWAY, South Carolina – The UT Arlington softball team dropped both games in Sunday's doubleheader at Coastal leaving the Mavs with a 7-10 record in Sun Belt play.
Although the Mavericks were able to notch 18 hits across both games, UTA struggled as they stranded 21 runners on the base paths.

Seniors
KJ Murphy and
Emily Evans paced UTA at the plate in game one finishing 2-3 as Murphy recorded her 27
th RBI on the season.
Sophomore
Reagan Hukill and outfielder
Madison Miller finished with one hit a piece.
Head Coach
Peejay Brun used two pitchers in the circle as
Kenedy Hines got the start. Sophomore Hines threw three innings allowing three earned runs off four hits.
Junior
Laura Henriksen replaced Hines on the mound and pitched three innings while striking out three batters across 11 faced.
Henriksen limited the Chants to one hit as the Mavs struggled to plate any more runs across giving Hines the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- The Chanticleers grabbed an early 3-0 lead over the Mavericks from a three-run home run to center field in their first at-bats.
- Coastal scratched one more off an RBI-single that made it a 4-0 game.
- After UTA stranded one runner on the bases, the Chants plated one across off a sacrifice fly to right that extended their lead 5-0 in the third.
- Coastal went on to knock in a run from a solo home run in the fifth before the Mavericks got on the board with their first run of the game courtesy of an RBI-single from the bat of Murphy.
- UTA was unable to any runs across leaving 11 on base and fell 6-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE – Game 2 (L, 5-2)
The Mavericks offense showed out in game two notching 12 hits as Hines led the Mavs going 3-3 at the plate while
Jadyn Erickson, Murphy, Hukill (2 RBI) and
Jessica Carreon recorded two hits in the contest.
Senior
JoJo Valencia got the start in the circle for the Mavs and threw 3.1 innings while allowing four hits across 19 batters faced.
Junior
Allie Gardiner replaced Valencia and pitched the remainder of the game allowing two earned runs off four hits.
Despite scoring early, UTA could not find a way to answer back as Valencia got the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Hukill knocked an RBI-single up the middle that scored Murphy from second to take a 1-0 lead in their first ups.
- The Chants tied it up with a single up the middle that brought around their first run of the contest.
- Hukill recorded her second RBI of the game as she scored Erickson with a single to right center to take the lead 2-1.
- The Chanticleers homered in the fourth inning and sixth inning that extended their lead 5-2.
- The Mavs left 10 runners on the base paths unable to get any in falling to the Chants 5-2.

The Mavericks will play their final series at home against Appalachian State this weekend with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. and one game Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
