Rudewick Voted To TSATA Region 4 Board of Directors

ARLINGTON – Longtime UT Arlington Athletics staff member Roy Rudewick has been elected to serve as a Region 4 Board Member with the Texas State Athletic Trainers Association.

Rudewick – UTA's Senior Associate AD for Sports Medicine – was voted into his position earlier this month for Region 4, which covers the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and surrounding areas. Rudewick will assume his position beginning this July, and will serve a three-year term on the 12-person Board of Directors.

"I am truly honored that the athletic trainers of the DFW region have given me the opportunity to represent them on the TSATA Board of Directors," stated Rudewick. "I am looking forward to collaborating with other athletic trainers and governmental bodies to advocate for the profession of athletic training, and continue to improve the healthcare that we provide to those who we serve."

The TSATA was created to own, operate and maintain an association exclusive to the promotion, enhancement and advancement of the athletic training profession and of the association's members. The TSATA is "by Texas athletic trainers, about Texas athletic trainers and for Texas athletic trainers," and strives to serve as the voice of athletic trainers in Texas.

Rudewick, who was promoted to his current position with UTA this past fall, has been instrumental in UTA Athletics' health and safety protocols and future planning in response to COVID-19.

Rudewick began at UTA in 2007, and previously served as the department's Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. Last spring, Rudewick was honored for his long-term commitment to excellence in taking care of Maverick student-athletes by receiving the Athletic Trainer Service Award from the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA).

Over the past few years, Rudewick – who has more than 20 years of membership with NATA – has transitioned into more of an oversight role, helping the department expand and enhance its focus on student-athlete well-being relative to nutrition, healthy decision-making and holistic body treatment.

A 1989 UTA graduate, Rudewick was previously the primary trainer for the men's basketball program. He also has formerly served as President of the Executive Board of the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association.

Rudewick previously served as the President of the North Texas Athletic Trainer Society from 2002-04 and has been a clinical instructor of the NATA's Board of Certification. He has also served as a master assessor for the University Interscholastic League's Wrestling Weight Certification Program and was the Dallas-Fort Worth Regional Coordinator.
