DENTON, Texas - The UT Arlington women's tennis team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the North Texas Mean Green on Wednesday afternoon, 4-3. The Mavericks are now 15-3 on the season and have won four straight matches.
The Mean Green started the match by taking the doubles point convincingly. Lucie Devier and Saki Oyama took down
Liz Chileno and
Nanaka Takeuchi at No. 1, 6-1. North Texas wrapped up doubles play with a 6-1 win over
Almudena Boza and
Carla Pons at No. 3 to take a 1-0 lead.
The momentum carried over to singles play for the Mean Green, taking a 2-0 lead over the Mavs with a 6-1, 6-2 win over
Liz Chileno at No. 2 singles. Â
Almudena Boza started the rally for the Mavericks, taking No. 6 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.
The match was evened at two by
Carla Pons, who moved to 10-0 on the season with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Momoka Horiguchi put the Mavs on top for the first time taking No. 1 in consecutive sets, 7-5, 6-4.
North Texas tied the match at three by defeating
Polina Akimova 7-5, 6-3 at No. 3.
In the lone three-set match of the day,
Lucia Natal clinched the match for the Mavericks, taking No. 5 by a score of 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

The Mavericks will return to Sun Belt play, traveling to San Marcos to take on rival Texas State at 11 am on Saturday, April 10.
