TROY, Ala. – The UT Arlington softball team's offense struggled Thursday afternoon as the Mavericks took their first loss in the Sun Belt Conference Championship to Texas State 4-0.

UTA's offense put up just two hits as shortstop
Emily Evans finished 1-3 and sophomore
Kenedy Hines finished 1-2.
Freshman
Gracie Bumpurs got the start in the circle for the Mavs as she threw 3.1 innings and allowed one earned run off three hits.
Right hander
Laura Henriksen replaced Bumpurs and went on to throw 2.2 innings allowing two earned runs across 11 batters faced.
Junior
Allie Gardiner came in to close as UTA was unable to plate any runs across falling to Texas State giving Bumpurs the loss.
PLAY BY PLAY
- Texas State led things off with a triple in the first inning before a fielder's choice plated the Bobcat's first run of the game.
- After a UTA error placed a Bobcat on base, Texas State took a 2-0 lead from an RBI-single to left center in the fourth inning.
- Evans reached on a fielding error before sophomore Hines singled to third base. With runners on first and third, UTA was unable to plate any across.
- In the sixth, Texas State was able to put a run across from a wild pitch that made it 3-0.
- A solo home run from the Bobcats extended their lead 4-0 in the top of the seventh inning.

The Mavericks will move to the elimination game tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. to face the winner of the Troy and ULM game.
