ARLINGTON, Texas - A 15-inning and nearly 5 hour game took place between the UT Arlington baseball team (23-26, 11-8 SBC) and Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (27-20, 10-9 SBC) on Friday night as the Cajuns were able to come away with a 4-3 victory to claim game one of the weekend series.
The Mavericks used six pitchers in the game.Â
Carlos Tavera (ND) got the start for the Mavericks, tossing 7.0 innings and adding 10 strikeouts. It is his sixth double-digit strikeout game this season and now sits at 101 on the year - the 5th most in a single season for the Mavericks.

Zach Norris (0.1 IP),
Tanner King (2.0 IP),
Michael Wong (2.0 IP), and
Brayden Brooks (3.0 IP) finished the game for the Mavericks. Brooks (L, 0-2) allowed the final run, striking out three batters.
The Mavericks finished with 12 hits in the game, led by
Andrew Miller's 4-for-7 day. Miller was also responsible for all three runs batted in, two coming off a home run.Â
Connor Aube (3) and
Cason Gregory (2) finished with multi-hit games.Â
Boone Montgomery,
Anthony Dominguez and
Steven Saunders all added one hit.
UTA started off on the right foot, taking the lead in the first inning.With runners on first and second, Miller singled through the left side to push the runner at second home and give the Mavs an early 1-0 lead.
The Cajuns took the lead in the fifth inning. Two doubles tied the game before a hard hit ball up the middle scored the go-ahead run.
Louisiana added one more run in the 8th inning. With runners on first and second, a fielder's choice pushed home the third run of the game.
In the bottom frame,
Andrew Miller connected on a two-run home run to tie the game at three.
Neither team could gain an edge for the next six innings as the game went deep into extras.
In the 15th inning, the Cajuns were able to get an edge, loading the bases with just one out. A sacrifice fly scored the go-ahead run as Louisiana held on to a 4-3 win.

The Mavericks will celebrate Senior Day with a doubleheader against Louisiana tomorrow with the first game beginning at 2 pm. Senior Day festivities will begin at 1 pm for pictures, before on-field at 1:30.
