Hayden Brittingham Signs With UTA

ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington men's basketball team has secured another key roster addition as Junior College National Champion Hayden Brittingham has signed with the Mavericks.

A 6-foot-5 forward, Brittingham averaged 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 56 percent from the floor over 30 games for Coffeyville Community College this past season as a freshman, helping lead the Red Ravens to the 2021 NJCAA Division I National Championship.

A native of Fort Worth and product of Crowley High School, Brittingham scored in double figures 10 times last year, highlighted by a 17-point performance against Cowley County CC on Mar. 6.

"I am so excited about the signing of Hayden Brittingham. Hayden is a skilled, tough athlete who will add versatility, rebounding and toughness to our roster. He plays with an effort and aggression that I believe Mav fans will love watching and we will love coaching," said new UTA head coach Greg Young. "Hayden just completed a terrific season at Coffeyville under Hall of Fame Coach Jay Herkelman, and played for Gary Collier at Crowley."

Brittingham scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in his NJCAA Tournament debut. In the semifinal matchup against perennial JUCO power Chipola College, Brittingham played a season-high 24 minutes and pulled down seven key rebounds – one shy of matching his high for the year – in a pivotal 66-63 win. Coffeyville won the National Championship the next day with a 108-99 win over Cowley County to complete a 27-3 season.

As a senior at Crowley in 2019-20, Brittingham was named to the District 5-5A First Team and also the TABC 5A Region 1 Team.

Brittingham is the sixth spring signing for Young, who will be entering his first season as the head coach of the Mavs in 2021-22 after spending the previous 12 years with the program as either an associate or assistant coach.
