Murphy Named NFCA All-Region

ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington softball team's senior standout KJ Murphy earned a spot on the NFCA All-Central Region list, announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.

"KJ blossomed into a great softball player and a great leader," said Head coach Peejay Brun. "She works tirelessly for this program as well for her teammates and I am so proud of her and all of her accomplishments."

The Baytown, Texas native, selected to the First Team, put up impressive numbers throughout her senior campaign as she finished with a team-high batting average of .405 this season that placed her third in the Sun Belt.

In conference play alone, the First Team All-Sun Belt selection led in batting average (.478) and on-base percentage (.526). She also finished with the second-highest slugging percentage (.754) and hits (33).

The NFCA announced that 380 student-athletes from 154 programs have received 2021 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades.

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for the 2021 NFCA Division I All-America squads.
