Zach Cole Named Women’s Golf Assistant Coach

ARLINGTON – Following a strong playing career as an undergraduate with the UT Arlington men's golf team, Zach Cole has been named as the new assistant coach for the UTA women's golf team, as announced by head coach Catherine Matranga.

A native of Fort Worth, Cole joined the Mavericks as a freshman in 2016-17, utilizing a redshirt season. Over the ensuing four years beginning in 2017-18, he played in 13 tournaments with a scoring average of 76.51 over 39 rounds.

"I'm excited to have Zach join our program," stated Matranga of Cole, who graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 2016. "Beyond his experience on the course, Zach has a tremendous knowledge of our program already and is someone who is very familiar with UTA golf and how we operate. I expect him to make an immediate impact."

Cole's best performance came last fall with consecutive rounds of 68 and a career-best 67 in the first two rounds of the Little Rock Invitational in October. That 135 (-9) total through 36 holes is currently tied for the 2nd best in program history, bettered only by a 134 (-10) from Tyrone Mordt at the 2005 Northwest Collegiate Classic.

Cole will get to work immediately as the Mavs begin their season in less than two weeks at the USA Intercollegiate in Mobile Sept. 4-6.
