For the third-consecutive year, UT Arlington is proud to team up with the Moncrief Cancer Institute to help bring cancer screening programs to the Arlington community.
The athletic department will raise funds throughout the 2022-23 academic year to provide our neighbors in medically underserved communities with screening programs that help detect cancer at its earliest stages.
"We know the importance of early detection," UTA's Deputy Director of Athletics,
Russell Warren, said. "It saves lives, and we are proud to help our community through the life-saving mission of the Moncrief Cancer Institute. Our student-athletes, staff and fans have come together to fight cancer. We hope you will join our team in the fight!"
The UTA Beats Cancer initiative is a year-round effort that begins in the fall with volleyball and concludes in the spring with the baseball and softball teams. Each team will join the UTA Beats Cancer campaign, and each one will have their own fundraising efforts and cancer awareness initiative.
The fundraising initiatives for each team include breast cancer (volleyball and women's basketball), ovarian cancer (softball), colon and breast cancer (baseball) and melanoma cancer (men's basketball).
