Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ARLINGTON, Texas --- The UT Arlington men's tennis team wrapped up the Islander Open II in Corpus Christi and the Fall Classic 3K in Midland over the weekend.
 
Islander Open II
Four Mavericks competed in the singles and doubles events at the Islander Open II.
 
In singles action, Anton Shepp went 2-1 in singles play, defeating Elias Peter of Lamar 6-1, 6-3 and Matthieu Peres of TAMUCC 6-2, 7-6(4). He then lost to Avery Zavala of TAMUCC 6-4, 6-1in his final singles match. Ricardo Alban had the same singles record, starting off with a win against Haruki Omori-Cowie of Lamar 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-2. He fell to Nathan Schwartz of TAMUCC 7-5, 7-5 in his second round, but came back with a win against Gustav Hasselegren of Lamar 6-3, 6-7 (2), 10-6 to end his singles tournament on a high note.
 
Kritanta Sarma opened up his fall season, going 1-2 in singles play. Sarma lost to Ulysse Bertrand of TAMUCC in his first match 6-1, 6-2 as well as Tomas Quesada Perez 6-2, 6-1 in the second. He ended singles play with a strong win, defeating Jonah Smith of Lamar 6-0, 6-0.
 
Solano Caffarena fell to Pascal Lorieul of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 7-6(4), 6-3 before retiring from his remaining matches due to injury.
 
In doubles play, Caffarena and Shepp defeated Martin Garcia-Ripoll Ore and Elias Peter of Lamar 8-5. In their second round, they lost a tight match against Lorieul and Schwartz of TAMUCC 8-7, falling short 7-2 in the tiebreaker.
 
Alban and Sarma started doubles with an 8-1 loss to Zavala and Quesada Perez of TAMUCC. They recovered in their second round, defeating Omori-Cowie and Smith of Lamar 8-2. In their final round, the pair lost 6-2 to Garcia-Ripoll Ore and Peter 6-2.
 
Fall Classic 3K Event
Bautista Vilicich and Santiago Giamichelle competed in the Fall Classic, which only included singles play.
 
Vilicich won two out of three matches after winning his first two rounds then falling in the third. He defeated Sebastian Abboud of Texas Tech 6-2, 7-5 in the first round, then followed that up with a win against Takumi Katsuda of UT Permian Basin 6-2, 6-0. In the third round, he suffered a close loss against Reed Collier of Texas Tech, 6-7(5), 6-1, 7-5.
 
Giamichelle started off his first round with a loss to Tyler Stewart of Texas Tech 6-3, 6-4. He also fell to Yasha Zemel of Rice in the second round with the same score. To end the tournament strong, Giamichelle secured a solid 6-1, 6-2 win against Jonas Krahofer of UT Permian Basin.

Looking Ahead
As of now, the men are done for the fall as the ITF M15 in Norman, Okla. and the ITF M25 in Austin, Texas are no longer on the schedule. The team may add at least one event, however, at some point.
