ARLINGTON, Texas – UT Arlington head tennis coach
Diego Benitez announced the schedules for the upcoming men's and women's 2023 spring season on Friday.
Benitez returns to UTA for his 18th season after leading the women's team to two consecutive regular season conference championships in 2021 and 2022. He has earned over 400 wins as head coach and taken four teams (2006, 2009, 2011, 2016) between the men's and women's squads to the NCAA Tournament.
The men are set to open their season in Albuquerque, facing New Mexico on Jan. 20 and Gonzaga on Jan. 21. Their home debut is scheduled for Jan. 29 when they host Prairie View A&M at 10 a.m. and Southeastern Oklahoma at 2 p.m.
Their first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match is set for April 2 at the UTA Tennis Center against UT Rio Grande Valley at 10 a.m., followed by two more home matches against Abilene Christian and New Mexico State.
The men will finish up their regular season on April 16 against Seattle.

The UTA women's team, coming off their 10th all-time regular season conference championship, are scheduled to open with two matches at home against Dallas Baptist (10 a.m.) and Prairie View A&M (2 p.m.) on Jan. 28.
Their first WAC match is set for March 17 at Abilene Christian, and their first home conference match will take place against New Mexico State on March 24 at 1 p.m.
The Lady Mavs are scheduled to face Stephen F. Austin in their last match of the regular season in the UTA Tennis Center on April 16 at 11 a.m.
