ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (7-3) won both matches on Sunday, defeating Southeast Oklahoma State in the morning 6-1 and Cameron in the afternoon 5-2.
The Mavericks dropped the doubles point against SE Oklahoma, starting with
Maks Lukman and
Alan Sau Franco falling 3-6 on Court 1.
Ricardo Alban and
Daichi Akiyoshi followed with a 2-6 loss on Court 3.
UTA came back quickly and swept the singles matches.
Miguel Cabrera dominated on Court 4 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Alan Sau Franco won 6-0, 7-5 on Court 1, and
Anton Shepp was next with a 6-2, 7-6 win on Court 2.
Daichi Akiyoshi clinched the match for the Mavericks by winning 6-3, 7-6 on Court 3.
Maks Lukman and
Ricardo Alban continued the winning streak for UTA on Courts 5 and 6. Lukman won 6-2, 6-3, and Alban finished with a 7-5, 7-5 win to end the morning.
The success carried into the afternoon match versus Cameron with a 5-2 win for the Mavericks.
UTA was quick to secure the doubles point, with
Anton Shepp and
Miguel Cabrera winning 6-3 on Court 2, followed by
Daichi Akiyoshi and
Ricardo Alban with another 6-3 win on Court 3.
Alan Sau Franco won his singles match by default on Court 1 after his opponent retired due to injury.
Miguel Cabrera won handily 6-2, 6-1 on Court 4, with
Daichi Akiyoshi securing the win for the Mavericks on Court 3, 6-0, 6-2.
With UTA up 4-0,
Maks Lukman won his match in a tiebreaker, 6-1, 3-6, 10-6.
Anton Shepp followed with a tough 3-6, 7-6, 5-10 loss on Court 2, as well as
Ricardo Alban on Court 6, losing 2-6, 4-6.
