SAN ANTONIO – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (7-4) ended their winning streak on Wednesday, falling to UTSA 6-1 in San Antonio.
The afternoon started off with the Roadrunners taking the doubles point, defeating the Mavericks on court one and court two.
Anton Shepp and
Miguel Cabrera fell on court two 6-4, while
Ricardo Alban and
Habib Stambouli dropped court three by the same score.
Each singles match was won in straight sets. Shepp was the first to fall, losing 6-1, 6-2 on court two before
Alan Sau Franco followed on court one 6-3, 6-2.
Miguel Cabrera and
Habib Stambouli battled, but ultimately couldn't pull out victories in the No. 4 or No. 6 slots, while
Daichi Akiyoshi fell in straight sets in No. 3 singles.
Maks Lukman was the lone Maverick to pick up a victory on the day, defeating Garrett Skelly 6-1, 7-6 on court five to pick up his 9
th victory of the season as he moved to 7-1 on court five.
UP NEXT
The Mavericks will return to Arlington where they will host Texas A&M – Corpus Christi (Friday, March 4; 12 pm) and Wichita State (Sunday, March 6; 12 pm) this weekend at the UTA Tennis Center.
