ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington women's tennis team continued their winning streak on Sunday against Southeast Oklahoma State and Cameron, advancing the Mavericks to 9-0 for the season. UTA opened the day with a 7-0 win over SE Oklahoma State before defeating Cameron 6-1 in the afternoon match.
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek started off strong with a 6-0 doubles win on Court 1.
Ana Paula Jimenez and
Liz Chileno continued, winning 6-1 on Court 2 and sealed the doubles point for the Mavericks.
UTA swept the singles matches for a 7-0 victory against SE Oklahoma.
Liz Chileno won on Court 2, 6-1, 6-1, followed by Tara Gornisek with a 6-0, 6-1 win on Court 3.
Carla Pons finished in a similar fashion, winning 6-0, 6-0 on Court 4 and clinching the match for the Mavericks.
The remaining singles matches concluded the same way with three wins. Ana Paula Jiminez won 6-2, 6-2 on Court 5, and
Nika Novikova finished with the same score on Court 6.
Momoka Horiguchi continued with a 6-1, 7-5 win on Court 1 to end the morning.
The afternoon match unfolded in a similar manner, with UTA defeating Cameron 6-1.
Carla Pons and
Nika Novikova earned the first doubles win on Court 3, 6-0, followed by
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek with a 6-3 win on Court 1.
Sarina Reinertsen won the first singles match of the afternoon on Court 5, 6-1, 6-0.
Ioana Dumitrescu won 6-2, 6-1 on Court 6, as well as
Carla Pons on Court 4 with the same score, clinching the match for the Mavericks.
Liz Chileno continued the winning streak on Court 2, 6-3, 6-3, as well as
Tara Gorinsek who came back and won in a tight match on Court 3, 5-7, 6-4, 13-11.
Momoka Horiguchi lost in a tough battle on Court 1, 4-6, 2-6.
The Mavericks will travel to Dallas next Sunday to take on SMU at noon.
