DALLAS - The UT Arlington women's tennis team (9-1) dropped their first match of the season on Sunday evening, losing to No. 36 SMU at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex at SMU, 4-0.
The evening starter tough for the Mavericks, losing the doubles point.Â
Momoka Horiguchi and
Tara Gorinsek fell 6-3 on court one beforeÂ
Carla Pons and
Nika Novikova dropped court three 6-2.
The Mustangs quickly took care of business in singles competition. Horiguchi was the first to fall, losing court one 6-0, 6-1 to Lexi Keberle.Â
Carla Pons followed with a 6-4, 6-1 loss on court three before the Mustangs wrapped up the win on court five with a 6-2, 6-3 win over
Ana Paula Jimenez.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Saturday (March 5) when they host Houston at the UTA Tennis Center for a 10 am match.
