ARLINGTON – The UT Arlington men's tennis team (2-0) will look to pick up their third consecutive sweep to open the season on Sunday when they host UTPB at the UTA Tennis Center at 2 p.m.
The Mavericks have yet to yield a single match, winning all 12 singles matches and five doubles matches.
Alan Sau Franco and
Ricardo Alban have both gone 1-0 in the No. 1 slot, while
Daichi Akiyoshi and
Habib Stambouli have gone 2-0 in slots five and six. Sau Franco currently leads the Mavericks with 8 wins on the year, including doubles competition.
In singles play,
Solano Caffarena and
Ricardo Alban have gone 1-0 on court two. Sau Franco and newcomer
Maks Lukman have held down court two with a 2-0 record, while
Miguel Cabrera and
Daichi Akiyoshi have gone 2-0 on court three.
SCOUTING UTPB
This will be the first spring match for the Falcons after having two matches postponed this week. Last year, UTPB was 6-10 which included a 4-0 loss to UTA. The Mavericks are 3-0 against the Falcons all-time.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will hit the road for the first time this season, heading to Corpus Christi to take on the Islanders on Tuesday, Feb. 8.
