CORPUS CHRISTI – For the first time this spring, the UT Arlington men's tennis team (3-0) will hit the road as they travel to Corpus Christi to take on Texas A&M – Corpus Christi tomorrow (Feb. 8) at noon.
The Mavericks have yet to give up a point in a match this season, winning their three matches by a perfect combined score of 21-0.
Daichi Akiyoshi,
Ricardo Alban,
Maks Lukman and
Habib Stambouli are all 3-0 on the season.
Alan Sau Franco is 2-0 on Court One, while
Solano Caffarena and
Miguel Cabrera are also 2-0 on the season.
Sau Franco and Cabrera lead the Mavericks with 9 and 8 wins respectively, dating back to tournament play.
In doubles play, Sau Franco and
Maks Lukman have begun building chemistry as the two are 3-0 on the year, playing at both Court One and Court Two.
Miguel Cabrera and
Daichi Akiyoshi are 2-0 on the season, all on Court Three.
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M – CORPUS CHRISTI
The Islanders are currently 5-2 on the season, with four wins over Prairie View A&M. They have also beat UTRGV. AMCC is coming off a 4-1 loss to fellow Sun Belt school Louisiana on Saturday. The Islanders lead the all-time series 15-4 over UTA, but the Mavericks have won four of the last six, including their last matchup in 2020.
ON DECK
The Mavericks will stay on the road when they travel to Abilene Christian to take on the Wildcats on Friday, Feb. 11.
